ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The objective of the Two Days National Conference on “ADVANCED BIOCOMPATIBLE MATERIALS AND DEVICES / SYSTEMS FOR BIOMEDICAL APPLICATIONS” (ABMDB - 2023) aims to discuss new developments, analyze challenges in healthcare and inspire new ideas amongst the professionals, industrialists and students from research areas of Biomaterials, Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering, to share research experiences and indulge in interactive sessions on technical issues. The conference provides a forum to discuss about various aspect of material design, process, performance and reliability in/for biological systems, technological advancements in device design and development for diagnostics and therapeutics. Emphasis will also be given on the novel structures and properties of materials to design them for technological applications to address societal, life supporting and biomedical needs.

ABOUT SREC

Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC), Coimbatore was established in the year 1994 by SNR Sons Charitable Trust. The institution offers 11 Undergraduate Programmes and 6 Post Graduate Programmes in Engineering and Technology, 5-year integrated M.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, and MBA Programmes. It is a prestigious institute with a reputation for excellence at both UG and PG levels, a close interaction with industry, and a strong emphasis on research both basic and applied. The college is one among the 49 institutions in India, selected for AICTE IDEA LAB funded by AICTE to set up infrastructure to encourage students to experiment with the fundamental applications of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics and enable product visualization. The institution has also been awarded top star rating by MHRD for IIC, and it is consistently ranked in the top 200 Engineering Institutes for 5 consecutive years as per NIRF ranking by the Government of India.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENTS

The Department of Physics was established in the year 1994 and the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the year 2006. Dedicated, well qualified and experienced faculty members of the departments lead to the path of success. All the departments are recognized as Research Department by Anna University, Chennai. Faculty of the institution have received the fellowships from INSA, INSPIRE, CSIR and TARE. Research in the departments ranges across the most challenging problems in materials science, nanoscience and nanotechnology, medical electronics, rehabilitation engineering, molecular diagnostics, medical data science and therapy design. Opportunities for collaboration with Sri Ramakrishna Hospitals, Coimbatore, a sister organization under the trust, provides access to a wealth of expertise and options for studying real world health issues for biomedical engineering students. DST – FIST has sponsored to improve the infrastructural facilities of various departments. DC Sputtering unit, Solar simulator and Photoluminescence spectrometer have been purchased under DST-FIST scheme. Apart from that, the departments have a well-established synthesis lab equipped to synthesize nanomaterials and thin films. Characterization lab is equipped with XRD, AFM, UV, ATR and Electrochemical workstation and SLB (Schlumberger) elastomer seal test facility.
