Faculty Description

Dr. Vishnu Vardhan Palem is working as an Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore. Previously, he worked as a Scientist (Senior Manager), Research & Development in HBL Power Systems Pvt. Ltd. at Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Also, he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nanotechnology, Saveetha School of Engineering, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS). Dr. Vishnu Vardhan received his Bachelor of Technology in Bioinformatics from the Sathyabama University, Chennai, India, in 2011; Master of Technology (2014) and Doctor of Philosophy (2020) degrees in the Centre for Nanotechnology & Advanced Biomaterials from SASTRA University, Thanjavur, India. He has 9 years of research experience, 4 years of teaching experience and guided 3 M.Sc. and 11 B.Tech students for their final project dissertations. His research is mainly focused on macro- to nano-porous materials for energy storage processes and drug delivery applications. Through a combined 9 years of research and startup experience in addition to his PhD, he have built a unique skillset encompassing cathode materials for energy storage (especially Supercapacitors and batteries) and electrochemical characterization techniques. Going forward, he leverage his unique skillset to build a signature platform on various novel effective electrode materials from bio-waste for systematic and comprehensive studies of ion sorption and transport in engineered materials, thereby accelerating discovery of ion-selective materials for applications in energy storage and manufacturing. He added to his achievements as an author and co – author for nearly 21 research paper publications in various reputed journals like The Journal of Electrochemical Society, International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, Nanomaterials, Journal of Solid-State Electrochemistry etc., and participated in various international and national conferences. Also, he owned a patent entitled “Nanofluid as an additive in the electrolyte: A facile and efficient strategy to improve the performance of supercapacitor” by the Govt. of India. Besides, he also served as Reviewer for “Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry” in Elsiver Publishers; Guest Editor for “Latest themed collection on “Advances in Electrosynthesis for a Greener Chemical Industry” in RSC Publishers “Green Chemistry”; Selection Editor for “Characterization and Applications of Nanomaterials” Journal, Special Issue 2023 and Selection Editor for “Nano Materials and Nano Drugs” Journal, Special Issue 2023.
