Dr. Shilpa Joy

Faculty Description

Dr. Shilpa Joy is an aspiring researcher and teacher who has nine years of experience in both teaching and research. Her research interest focusses on regenerative medicine and nanotechnology. She completed her Bachelors’ degree in B. Tech Biotechnology Engineering from MET’S School of Engineering, Mala, Kerala in the year 2006 and completed her Masters’ degree in M.Tech Biotechnology from V.I.T. University in the year 2008. She was awarded with Doctorate degree from Cochin university of Science and Technology, Cochin, Kerala, 2014. She served as research fellow of UGC for three years in Centre for Neuroscience, Cochin university of Science and Technology. She has designed and developed neurotransmitter encapsulated chitosan nanoparticles for liver regeneration and is interested in designing biomaterials for tissue engineering. She had worked for developing scaffolds that can be used for skin regeneration and for dental applications. She had published 19 research papers and 4 book chapters in peer reviewed journals and reputed publishers. She is a life member of Society for Biotechnologists, India. She has completed NPTEL course with elite certification on ‘Tissue Engineering’.
