Dr. R. Shanmugasundaram is currently working as Head of the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College. He completed his B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from STJ Institute of Technology, Ranebennur, Karnataka (Karnatak University) in the year 1995. He completed M.E. in Power Electronics and Drives from Anna University, Guindy, Chennai, in the year 2004. He completed his Ph.D. in Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad, in the year 2015.
He has around 21 years of teaching experience. He is currently guiding two Part Time Ph.D Scholars. He has published 14 papers in reputed international journals such as IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics, Journal of Vibration and Control, Springer etc. He has also published 28 National and International conference papers. He has organized National/International Conferences, FDPs, and Workshops.
He has authored the book "Principles of Control Systems". His research interests include BLDC Motor Drives and Control, and Adaptive Motion Control Systems. He is a peer reviewer in IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics, Journal of Vibration and Control etc. His expertise lead to funding/consultancy work from AICTE, Industries etc. He has organized and attended various workshops and short term courses in his area of expertise.
He is a life member of ISTE and JNTU forum for Science and Technology, Hyderabad. During his tenure as IEEE Student Branch Counselor, he has received Certificate of Appreciation from the IEEE Madras Section for organizing activities towards the advancement of IEEE and Engineering Professionals.
