Dr. J. SELVAKUMAR

Faculty Description

Dr. Selvakumar is presently serving as Professor in the Department of M.Tech – CSE in Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore.  He has a total of 23 Years of Teaching Experience, with 12 Years Post-Doctoral experience. He completed his Ph. D from Anna University, Chennai in March 2013, Post-Graduation in M.E (CSE) from Kongu Engineering College Bharathiar University in 2002 and Under graduation in B.E (CSE) from Madras University in 2001. His area of interest includes Software Engineering, Agile, DevOps, Full Stack Development, Green Computing, Carbon Footprint and Ground Water Recharge.  He is Senior IEEE member and also Faculty Co-ordinator of IEEE – Computer Society. He is also ISTE Life Member.

He has 11 Scopus Publication & 2 Web of Science Publications.  One of his Patent has been published. He has successfully completed the research funded by AICTE for Rs.15 Lakhs under RPS scheme titled “Economical Software Development for Small Scale Industries and Educational Institutions using Agile Methodology”, and also successfully completed the Anna University Chennai, CFR funded Project for Rs.1 Lakh. He has also been recently funded by AICTE under VAANI Scheme for Rs.2 Lakhs He has completed four Consultancy Projects and received funding from IEEE Madras Section for Workshop and PG Project. He has also authored a book on “C Programming”.

He is DC member for around 8 Anna University Research Scholars. He has Chaired sessions in many National / International Conferences. He has been resource persons on the Topic “Agile and DevOps” for several FDPs, FDTP, SDP, STTP etc. which are funded by AICTE, ISTE, TEQIP, Anna University etc.. in various Engineering Colleges in Kerala, Karnataka, Coimbatore, Trichy, Salem, Erode, Namakkal & Tiruchengode. He has also delivered many Guest Lectures in “Agile & DevOps” and also the Keynote Speaker for several Programmes. He has guided around 25 PG Projects & many UG Projects.  He is also reviewer for Journals & Conferences. He is BoS Member of a University and DAC Member of an Engineering College. He was also nominated as a Teaching Faculty Selection Committee Member by a University. He has interacted with various Industries to bridge the Industry & Institution Gap in Curriculum through various Industry offered One Credit Courses in the Institution. He is Institution Ant-ragging Nodal Officer and also Library Advisory Member. He is Department BoS Co-ordinator and also CBCS Co-ordinator.

He is IBM Certified “Design Thinking Practitioner” and has trained several Students in “Design Thinking” Course in the Institute. He has successfully completed Cambridge BEC Preliminary & Vantage Certifications with Merit. He is also ISO Lead Auditor of TUV-  Reinland. He is Nature Club & Citizens Consumer Club Co-ordinator.  He has been Academic Auditor for University and various Engineering Colleges. He received “SNS Faculty Excellence Award 24” under the category of “Creative and Innovative Faculty Award” for the outstanding contribution and achievements in Academic discipline from SNS Institutions Coimbatore on December 2024.
