Faculty Description

Saravana Kumar is a distinguished Visting Professor at PSG College of Technology handling classes for IT Department – UG(B.Tech) and PG(M.E.) students. He was previously the D irector of Cognizant Technology Solutions  and has also worked as a  Consultant for Tata Consultancy Services. He has 30+ years of global and progressive leadership experience in managing large programs and engagements in various capacities for  Fortune 500 companies as  IS Specialist, IT Manager, Test Manager, Project Manager, Program Manager, Delivery Manager, Account Manager and Director. 

He has rich experience in managing and delivering IT projects in  Retail (Best Buy, Richfield, USA & Best Buy, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada),  Financial Services (Toyota Financial Services, Minneapolis, 

USA),  Telecom (Tata Sky, Bangalore, India),  Printing/Publishing (Deccan Herald, Bangalore, India), Manufacturing (Givaudan, Coca Cola – Bangalore, India),  Mobility (PwC, Florida, USA) and  Healthcare domains (Smithkline Beecham, India and Emblem Health, New York, USA)   

With a  B.Sc. Statistics (Third Rank Holder) from  PSG College of Arts & Science and an  MCA from PSG College of Technology, Mr.Saravana Kumar remains actively involved with his alma mater, PSG College of Technology, as a valued alumnus and  Board of Studies Member for various colleges. Leveraged his experience and supported future generations by serving as the former Placement and Career Development Consultant for Government College of Technology, Coimbatore. A passionate mentor, Mr.Saravana Kumar has conducted  impactful training and mentoring sessions in Soft Skills for a diverse audience, including school students, students across Arts & Science, Engineering, and Medical colleges, faculty members, and corporate employees. His expertise extends beyond the classroom, as he has  co-authored books on Information Technology published by S. Chand and Company, New Delhi. 

He has been associated with  Computer Society of India – Coimbatore Chapter for several years in various positions and currently serving as  Chairman. As requested by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), he has served as the  CSI G20 Ambassador for Tamil Nadu, he had actively promoted Stay Safe Online Campaign through Online Sessions and Social Media Handles. The objective of the campaign was to raise awareness about digital security and online safety among individuals and organizations. He is also a Management Committee Member of RAAC (Residents Awareness Association of Coimbatore) and has played vital roles in promoting urban forests, waste management, spreading awareness and in providing the much-needed support during natural disasters like flood and cyclone. He is also the Ambassador for Swachh Bharath for Coimbatore Ward No:61. He has been an integral part of  C4TN (Coimbatore for Tamil Nadu), a group of highly committed volunteers from 60 NGOs and organizations of Coimbatore who joined together and formed a Federation of Voluntary Associations of Coimbatore and supported victims of natural disasters like Chennai flood, Kerala flood and Gaja Cyclone.  

As an active social entrepreneur, he has contributed to various NGOs and Social Organizations like No Food Waste, AUMM Clothes Foundation, Rotary Clubs, etc. and has  volunteered for Corona Relief - Emergency Food Response Operations, Vaccination Drives, Clothes Donation to the needy in a dignified manner, Career Skills Training to the Visually Challenged, Home Quarantine Wellness Helpline, DifferentlyAbled Vaccination Helpline Support and Mega Vaccination Drives.  He is passionate a bout trekking and has also trekked to the Himalayas.
