Dr. C. Bhagyanathan

Faculty Description

Dr.C.Bhagyanathan, received his PhD in the area Welding and Nano-Coating, from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, M.E Production Engineering (2004) at PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore and B.E. Mechanical Engineering (2002) at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore. He has 16 years of teaching and 5 years of industrial experience. Currently, he is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore.

 He also has 2 years of research experience from DRDL Hyderabad. His research interests include Machining, Waste management, Materials Engineering, Nano coating, Corrosion, Wear, Surface Engineering, Metal Matrix Composites and aluminum casting technologies.

He had done the following research projects with the total funding of Rs.5,02,41.226.00

1.     Development of AI based computer vision scrap sorting system for aluminium alloy scrap (2024-2026) - Ministry of Mines – Rs.1,53,08,000.00-Recommended with comments

2.     An optimal approach for the retrieval value-added substances from secondary aluminium black dross (Jan 2024- December 2026) - Ministry of Mines- Rs.56,64,534.00 –Ongoing

3.     Undiluted Recycling of cast aluminum alloys containing high Fe impurity suitable for SME's (May 2022-April 2024) - Ministry of Mines – Rs.88,57,900.00 –Ongoing

4.     Technology Development to recycle assorted aluminum alloy scraps with a capacity of 1 ton/day of aluminum alloys to suit SME's (September 2021- August 2023) - DST-WMT    Rs. 49,82,880.00 – Completed

5.     Fe Reduction on recycled aluminium (2019-2020) – Industry- Rs.30,00,000.00- Completed

6.     Technology development of recycling of aluminium alloys (2016-2018) DST/TSDP/AMT – Rs.1,18,32,912.00 –Completed

7.     Nano coating of valve seat rings by zirconium and molybdenum (2014-2015) -Industry – Rs.5,95,000.00 - Completed

He had also delivered special lectures on top forums like

1.     'Two Days Sensitization Program of DST under Waste Management Technologies (WMT)' organized by DST - TDP division WMT programme, New Delhi

2.     “Capacity Building and Awareness Programme on Aluminium”, organised by JNARDDC, Ministry of Mines, Nagpur.

3.     AKAM Circular Economy Campaign 2023 - Academia-R&D-Industry Meet on 6th June 2023 at VNIT Nagpur.

Currently, he has submitted 4 patents, 4 research scholars and 40 publications He has handled the courses on Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, Automated Manufacturing Processes, Advanced Manufacturing Processes, Advanced Metal Joining Techniques, Mechanical Behavior of Materials, Production Tooling's, Non-destructive testing/ Evaluation of Materials, CAD/CAM/CIM, Total Quality Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering and Cost Estimation etc., for both UG and PG departments.
