Faculty Description

Lt.Dr. M. Ramesh is currently working as Assistant Professor (Sl.G) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He completed his B.E. (Distinction with honors) in Mechanical Engineering from Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore in the year 2009. He completed M.E. in Engineering Design (Distinction with honors) from Anna University, Coimbatore in the year 2011. He completed his Ph.D in the field of Manufacturing and Finite Element Analysis  from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Anna University, and Chennai in the year Aug 2021.

He has around 17 years of teaching experience, 6 years 6 months of experience in Defence services and 6 months of Industrial Experience in manufacturing sector. He handles courses in the area of simulation and modelling of manufacturing systems, FEA and CNC systems, Hydraulics and pneumatics, Special purpose machine tools, Manufacturing Technology I and Manufacturing Technology II, Measurement and Quality Control, Kinematics of machinery, Dynamics of machinery, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, Machine Drawing, Research Management and Optimization Techniques (OR), Engineering graphics and Basic Mechanical Engineering. He is proficient in the application of CAD and CAM modelling, ANSYS, CFD with the real time manufacturing. He is the Mechanical Measurements and Metrology laboratory and Precision laboratory in charge.

He is actively involved in consultancy assignments for 3D Coordinate Measuring Machines and has presented research papers in the ten International Conferences, Six National conferences. He has guided 39 UG projects.

He has published 21 papers in an International Journals both Web of science and Scopus. His area of research interest includes Finite Element Analysis and Manufacturing Engineering, Surface coatings, Composites, Welding, and Material science. Also he has published two book chapters and two patents. He is a member in the Society of Automotive Engineering and Indian society of technical Education.

He has established the NCC battalion Army wing (SD&SW) in the institution and he is the Associate NCC Officer of the institution since from 2018. He has completed his three months Associate NCC Officer pre-commission training at Officers Training Academy (OTA) Kamptee, Nagpur in the year 2021, during his three months training he secured A grade result and holding 5th rank out of 493 officer cadets attending the training and he got commissioned in the rank of Lieutenant.

Also, He completed his one month Refresher course training for the promotion cadre of Lieutenant to Captain rank at Officers Training Academy (OTA) Kamptee, Nagpur in the year 2023, during his one month training he secured A grade result and holding 3rd rank out of 496 officer cadets attending the training all over the country.
