Faculty Description

Dr. R. Raghu is an Assistant Professor (Sr.G) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore, where he brings a decade of combined research and teaching excellence to his role. He completed his Ph.D. from Anna University, Chennai in April 2025, conducting his doctoral research at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bangalore (Jan 2019-April 2025). He earned his Master's degree in Industrial Metallurgy with Distinction from PSG College of Technology in 2017, and completed his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Alagappa Chettiar Government College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi in 2013.

He possesses 2 years of valuable research experience at Amrita University, Coimbatore, and 9 years of dedicated teaching experience at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore. He has authored over 60+ publications indexed in Scopus and 50+ publications in Web of Science, achieving a remarkable cumulative impact factor of 90+. His research influence is further evidenced by strong citation metrics, including 1000+ Scopus Citations and an h-index of 18. His research expertise encompasses composites, metal and polymer additive manufacturing, and advanced processing techniques, with particular focus on aerospace materials and manufacturing technologies.

His research capabilities are substantiated by significant external funding, including an ARDB-funded project worth ₹25.04 Lakhs. His innovative contributions to the field are recognized through intellectual property development, with a granted patent (Patent No. 519051, issued March 4, 2024).

He actively engages in research collaborations with the DRDO (Bangalore), NIT (Trichy), HAL (Bangalore), Amrita University (Coimbatore), PSG College of Technology (Coimbatore), Coimbatore Institute of Technology (Coimbatore), IndoShell Cast Private Limited (Coimbatore) and the University of Johannesburg, (South Africa). He has contributed a book chapter on Tribology of Additively Manufactured Materials, published by Elsevier. He serves as a reviewer for reputed International journals from publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, Wiley and Nature. He has received multiple institutional awards, including the Highest Citations Award (2024) and Highest H-Index and Citations Award (2023). He also won the Best Paper Award at ICAPSM 2022 and a Silver Winner distinction at iSAMN 2024, Malaysia.
