Faculty Description

   Dr. M. Leena Chandrika is an Assistant Professor (Selection Grade) in the Department of English at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore, with nearly 19 years of teaching experience in English Language and Literature. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in English Literature from PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Coimbatore, an M.Phil. from Bharathiar University, a Master of Business Administration with a specialisation in Human Resource Management from Bharathiar University in 2013, and a Ph.D. in English awarded by Bharathiar University in 2022.

She has completed over 20 certification courses through platforms such as NPTEL, Coursera, and Cambridge Assessment English. In 2025, she earned the internationally recognized 150-Hour TESOL Certificate from Westminster College, London. She has also qualified the B2 Vantage Business English Certificate (BEC Vantage) and the Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) with Band 3.

A recognized Cambridge trainer and certified B2 Level Speaking Examiner for Cambridge English Qualifications, Dr. Leena Chandrika has been serving as the Centre Exams Manager of the Cambridge English Language Assessment Centre established under SNR & Sons Charitable Trust at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College since 2019. She has actively collaborated with Cambridge University Press & Assessment in organizing teacher support programmes, faculty development initiatives, assessment activities, and examination administration. She has also served as a resource person for orientation programmes on Cambridge English Qualifications and Certifications for schools and higher educational institutions. Under her coordination, Cambridge English examinations and assessments have been administered to over 10,000 candidates from schools, colleges, and corporate organizations.

Her academic contributions include ten research papers published in UGC CARE-listed journals. Peer reviewed journals and ten papers presented at national and international conferences, including IEEE conferences. Her areas of interest include English Language Teaching, Language Assessment, Literary Studies, and Technology-Enabled Learning.

Dr. Chandrika has received several recognitions, including the NPTEL Discipline Star Award, NPTEL Motivated Learner Award, NPTEL Mentor Award, Topper Awards, Silver and Gold Medal Certifications, the Cambridge Progress Champion Award, and the Inspiration Award from Cambridge University Press & Assessment (2022).

She has organized international conferences, workshops, seminars, literary events, quiz competitions, and a National Faculty Development Programme in collaboration with ELTAI. She served as the Faculty Coordinator of Zenith – The Quiz Club of SREC from 2010 to 2023. Committed to lifelong learning, she regularly participates in Faculty Development Programmes, workshops, seminars, and professional training programmes. She is a Life Member of the English Language Teachers' Association of India (ELT@I) and the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).
