Faculty Description

Dr. B. Mariappan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Science and Humanities (English Division) at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore and has been serving the institution since 2012. He obtained his Ph.D. in English from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore in 2026 and holds an M.Phil. & M.A. in English Literature from the same university. He has 14 years of teaching experience.

His areas of specialization include English Language Teaching and Indian Writing in English. He has published eight research articles in international journals and two papers in international conferences. He has successfully completed the Business English Certificate (BEC) Trainer Programme, the Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) certified by Cambridge University and A1 Level in the German Language. He is a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).

In addition to his academic responsibilities, he serves as the Programme Officer of the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit II, actively organizing camps and extension activities for the development of rural and tribal communities. He has also participated in national-level NSS camps.

In recognition of his exemplary service to the National Service Scheme, he has been honoured with the “Best NSS Programme Officer” Award by the Tamil Nadu State NSS Cell, Chennai, and the NSS Cell, Anna University, Chennai. He has also received an Appreciation Certificate from the NSS Cell, Anna University, Chennai, for his outstanding contributions and dedicated service as an NSS Programme Officer.
