Department of physics was established in the year 1994 along with the inception of the college. The lab is caters the needs of first year BE/BTech students for the applied physics practical classes. The department is recognized as the research centre of the Anna University, Chennai.

The department has sufficient infrastructure to carry out the research in Crystal Growth, Ultrasonics and Thin Films. The staff members pursuing part time PhD in the areas of Semiconductor Oxides, Semiconducting Materials and Crystal Growth.
