Faculty Description

Mrs. P.V. Kavitha is currently working as an Assistant Professor (Sel.Gr) in the Department of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science. She obtained her Master of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering at The Indian Engineering College, Tirunelveli in 2008 and completed her Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology at St.Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering, Nagercoil in 2006. She is currently pursuing part time Ph.D in the domain of Deep Learning in Anna University, Chennai. Her teaching experience spans over 12 Years and 3 Months. Her area of interest includes Data Mining, Java Programming, Android Application Development, iOS Application Development, Data Structures, Software Engineering, Object Oriented Analysis & Design, and Deep Learning. She has published papers in International and National Conferences / Journals. She has also attended various Faculty Development Programmes, seminars & workshops in well reputed Institutions and industry oriented training programmes in Wipro, CTS etc., She has been the resource person for guest lectures, seminars and Faculty Development Programmes. She has organized seminars and workshops for the benefit of students and guided various UG projects. She is one of the committee members of  NAAC, ISO & NBA. She is responsible for department Library. She is the NPTEL Coordinator of the department. She is BEC certified by Cambridge University and has completed various online course certifications from NPTEL, Coursera etc.,

She is one among the team of Mobile Application Development run by the Department of Information Technology, where she has organized and handled many hands-on sessions and online sessions for School, Polytechnic, Arts and Science and Engineering students. She has been awarded as “Wipro Certified Faculty (WCF)” - Mentor for Project Based Learning PBL in Java J2EE by Wipro limited, Bengaluru by clearing Wipro TalentNext Assessment in 2018. She trains Java J2EE - for Wipro eligible placement students for clearing Wipro TalentNext Milestone Assessment. She has been awarded as “Best Faculty category(Spotlight)” by 4th South Asian Education awards-19 on 10th March 2019 at Hyderabad – EET CRS (Research Wing for Excellence in Professional Education & Industry). She has been recognized as “EMC Academic Associate” for Data Science and Big  Data Analytics by EMC2 . She has received a grant of INR.15,000/- (October 2019) from CSIR(Council for Scientific and Industry Research) under the topic “AI in Avionics” . She is also the life member of IACSIT, CSI and ISTE. She has received Copyrights for 16IT256 – Java Programming Laboratory Manual from  Copyrights Office, Government of India (Registration number L-78715/2018)
