Faculty Description

Dr. P. Chandramohan is the Professor & Head of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, working in Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore, India with 25 plus years of industry (Iron foundry and Copper-based alloy foundry), research and academic experience. 

ACADEMICS: His specialization is in the field of Industrial Metallurgy and handling courses like Industry 4.0, Additive Manufacturing, Fluid Mechanics and Metallurgy for UG and PG students. 

RESEARCH: He has worked in various fields of materials processing technologies by receiving research grants from funding agencies. He is currently working as Principal Investigator (PI) in a funded project (INR 25.3 lakhs, 2023-25) of the Aeronautical Research & Development Board (ARDB) for the Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO). His Post-Doctoral research (2015-2017) is in the field of Additive Manufacturing of Titanium alloys for aeronautical and Biomedical applications at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa and continuing his collaborative research in the same university at the position of Senior research associate (2018-2024).

He has obtained one PATENT (Patent no-519051, Date of grant- 04.03.2024) under materials processing and published 100 plus technical research articles in peer-reviewed international journals. As per Scopus research scholar data, his research citations exceeded 1040 with an h-index of 15. Under his research supervision, 7 scholars have successfully completed their Ph.D. work and 7 Ph.D. scholars are currently pursuing. His research interests are Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing of Titanium, Aluminium alloys and polymer composites, Metal forming, Composite material fabrication and microstructure-property relationships study.

INDUSTRIAL CONSULTANCY: He has carried out industrial consultancy works in the design of drip fertigation (Effective fertilizer addition in drip irrigation) for agricultural fields (2017-2018), machine vision inspection system of two-wheeler camshaft for the manufacturing industry (2018-2020), Gang inspection system of hydraulic valve (2022) and AI-based laser engraving system (2024).

INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION: He is a Technical Committee Member in Institute of Indian Foundry men (IIF) Coimbatore chapter, Technical Sub Committee Member in Coimbatore Industrial Infrastructural Association (COINDIA), Coimbatore, Technical Advisor for Submersible Slurry Pump Project worth INR 12.847 crore in Scientific and Industrial Testing & Research Center (Si’Tarc), Coimbatore, India.
