The Department of Aeronautical Engineering has established a Centre of excellence for UAV in the year 2019 with an approved investment of INR 9 Lakhs. Research has been carried out in the area of environmental impact, swarm technology and autonomous operations. Both fixed and rotary wing UAV’s have been developed for specific applications.

In the academic year of 2023-2024, two new equipment have been added:

The Flashforge 5M Pro 3D printer capable of printing carbon fiber infused PLA and PETG materials at a speed of 600 mm/s.

The other equipment named “VaanVizhi Drone” with an endurance of 30 minutes.

The overall value of the lab has been increased to 12 Lakhs.
