Faculty Description

Dr. A. Dinesh completed his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Anna University, Chennai in 2023. He is qualified for an outstanding thesis award from Anna University, Chennai due to the publication of five Q1 publications resulting from his thesis. He completed his M.E. Structural Engineering (Gold Medalist and Best Outgoing Student) from Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore in 2015. He received his B.E. in Civil Engineering (with distinction) from Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology, Coimbatore in 2012. He was also awarded a Master of Science in Psychology from Tamilnadu Open University, Chennai. He has over 8 years of teaching and 6 months of industrial experience.

Dr. A. Dinesh is a recognized research supervisor (4310012) at Anna University, Chennai. As a Co-Principal Investigator, he received around Rs. 25 lakhs funding from DST under the Technology Development Program Scheme. He has also received Rs. 14.9 lakhs funding from MSME as a principal investigator. He has also had publications in the Automation in Construction, Journal of Building Engineering, Structural Control and Health Monitoring, Engineering Structures, and other SCI journals. He has thirty-one Scopus-indexed articles published by Elsevier, Wiley-Hindawi, and Taylor & Francis, with a cumulative impact factor of around 50. He has around 34 articles published in National and International level Conferences organized by prestigious universities such as MANIT Bhopal, MNIT Jaipur, NIT Surathkal, NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Calicut, VIT Vellore, and others. He also won the Best Paper Award at an international conference organized by MANIT Bhopal. He was granted four patents and has published a patent in the field of structural health monitoring. He is a peer reviewer for prestigious Elsevier journals such as the Journal of Building Engineering, Case Studies in Construction Materials, Structures, and so on. His research interests include cement composites, structural health monitoring, earthquake-resistant design, and prestressed concrete structures. He mentored various students, which resulted in awards (best invention award, best design award) and rewards totaling approximately Rs. 50,000 (from DST-Texas, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham).

He has organized many seminars, workshops, guest lectures, and webinars. He has attended various FDPs, workshops, and training programs organized by CSIR-SERC, IIT Madras, NIT Calicut, and others. He is a life member of the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) and the Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE). He received 100/100 (1% topper) in the NPTEL course - Design of RC Elements, and he has finished several courses from NPTEL, NITTT, Elsevier, Coursera, and others. He has also finished BEC certificate courses (Prelims and Vantage) from Cambridge Assessment - English.
