Faculty Description

Dr.G Gopu is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College. He received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Annamalai University in the year 1996. He received his Master's degree in Biomedical Signal Processing and Instrumentation from SASTRA University, Thanjavur in 2002. He completed his Ph.D. in Faculty of Electrical Engineering (EE) at PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore under Anna University, Chennai in the year 2013. He has more than 23 years of experience in teaching,12 years of experience in Research and Development, and played different administrative roles. He is a recognized Research Supervisor of Anna University and guiding Research Scholars. He started his career as a lecturer in 1997 in the department of EEE. 

He discharged his duties in the development of the department of EEE and department of EIE of SREC as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor, and Associate Professor and Professor and Head in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. He has more than 50 technical and research publications to his credit in the National, International Conferences, and reputed International Journals including Springer and Elsevier Book Chapters. He is a Reviewer for refereed journals including JEET Journal, Elsevier Journals, and Inderscience Journals, etc. He has Received Research Grant from AICTE under MODROB scheme in 2019, Research Promotion Scheme (RPS) in 2020 and STTP scheme in 2020 to the tune of 26 lakhs. He organized many Workshops and Seminars. His research and teaching interests include Biomedical Engineering and Instrumentation, Biomedical Signal Processing and Image Processing, Electrical Measurement and Instrumentation, Soft Computing. He is with Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College for the past 23 years. He has contributed to the academic community as a Resource Person in his expertise, Board of Studies Member and Academic Audit Member for various institutions. He is a life member of various professional bodies like Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Biomedical Engineering Society of India (BMESI), Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (IETE) and Fellow membership in The Council of Engineering and Technology (India). He is the recipient of RASHTRIYA GAURAV AWARD from India International Friendship Society, 2017, BEST CITIZENS OF INDIA award from the International Publishing House, 2017, LEADING EDUCATIONIST OF INDIA award from DK International Research Foundation, 2018 and PRIDE OF INDIA award from International Publishing House, 2018.
