Faculty Description

Dr. C. Praveenkumar is an Assistant Professor (Selection Grade) in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore. He obtained his B.E. and M.E. (Power Electronics and Drives) from Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College and earned his Ph.D. from Anna University, Chennai, in 2025. He has over 15 years of experience in teaching, research, industry collaboration, and academic administration since joining the institution in December 2011.

His research interests include Power Electronics, Electric Drives, Power Quality, Electric Vehicles, Smart Grid Technologies, Wide Bandgap Semiconductor Devices (SiC/GaN), and Artificial Intelligence applications in Power Electronics. He has published several research papers in reputed national and international journals and conferences and has successfully completed industry-sponsored consultancy projects in his area of specialization.

Dr. Praveenkumar serves as the Professor In-Charge (Placements) at the Career Development and Placement Division (CDPD), where he actively fosters industry–academia collaboration, enhances student employability through training, certifications, internships, and placement initiatives, and builds strategic partnerships with industries.

He has guided numerous undergraduate projects presented at national-level innovation competitions such as TI India Innovation Challenge, ELECRAMA, Young Innovative Research Talent (YIRT), and Research Hunt. He has also participated in over 25 Faculty Development Programmes and 30 technical workshops and research training programmes conducted by premier institutions across India.

He is an Expert Panel Member of the Institute for Innovation in Science and Technology (IIST), Hyderabad, and is an active member of professional bodies including IEEE, IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES), IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS), IAENG, and the Institution of Engineers (India).
