SREC Hosts IDE Bootcamp Phase II | Nation wide Bootcamp

Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC), Coimbatore, takes center stage once again as it is the sole Nodal Centre in Tamil Nadu for the Nation wide Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp (Phase II). Launched on January 29, 2024, by the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), this unique initiative, envisioned by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, seeks to cultivate the innovation, design, and entrepreneurial skills of over3000 student innovators across the country.



The inauguration of the Bootcamp was a virtual affair graced by Prof.(Dr.)T. G. Sitharam is the Chairman of AICTE and Minister for Education. Prof. Sitharam emphasized the phrase, "It is better to become Job Creators rather than Job Seekers." He inculcated the attendees with courage, persistence, and resilience, among other strong and inspiring words. He highlighted the current scenario with a growing economy due to the support and emergence of multiple startups and unicorns, respectively. "If creativity meets execution and ideas transcend into action, one can go beyond with an entrepreneurial mindset." with these words, he ended his highly thought-provoking and motivational speech.


SREC's Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), accredited with the top star rating by MoE for the past 4 years consecutively, is hosting the 5-day Bootcamp until February 2, welcoming 300 students from diverse backgrounds, including Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The event aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to become innovators and job creators.


Mr. Vikas Verma, Guest of Honor from the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell, provided insights on design methodologies, fostered design thinking concepts, and imparted valuable pitching skills. In his eloquent address, Mr.Verma highlighted the challenge faced by innovators in not meeting global standards due to a limited focus on the enterprise terrain. He stressed the need for a symbiotic relationship between the technical and business landscapes for holistic success. To end the speech, he phrased, "Do not carry an umbrella as you will be drenched in knowledge these 5 days".




The Bootcamp's inauguration session at SREC featured Mr.Arjun N. R., Innovation Consultant at Volvo Group, as the Chief Guest. Mr.Arjun shared his experiences on innovation, design thinking, and entrepreneurship, motivating students to think ahead when choosing a problem. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and open-mindedness in fostering innovative ideas.



Dr. N. R.Alamelu, Principal of SREC, presided over the function, emphasizing the importance of Project-Based Learning and encouraging an interdisciplinary mindset. Dr. P. Karuppusamy, Vice Principal of SREC, welcomed the gathering and expressed his vision for students to thrive through the Bootcamp experience.


A host of mentors from across the country actively participated in the event, with faculty and student innovation ambassadors coordinating the proceedings.Mrs.Rathi, Mr.Narendran, Mrs. Shanthini, and Dr. Raveen, from the Innovation Centre of the institution, played key roles in ensuring the success of the event.



The IDE Bootcamp at SREC promises to be a transformative experience, with the collective efforts of the Innovation Council, staff, mentors, and students contributing to the cultivation of a vibrant culture of innovation, design, and entrepreneurship. As these young minds embark on their journey to become future leaders, the Bootcamp serves as a stepping stone towards a brighter and more innovative future.
