SREC has celebrated the “Fifth International Day of Yoga” on 21.6.2019. Dr.L.Ragunath, Professor in Chemistry rendered the Prayer song and welcomed the gathering. Dr.P.Karuppuswamy, Vice-Principal Cum Head of the Department, Department of Mechanical Engineering presided over the function.
Mrs.Pankajam Govindarajalu, Professor in Manavalakalai, World Community Service Centre, Aliyar cum President of Veeriyampalayam Manavalakalai Mandram Trust, Coimbatore was the Chief Guest of the Day and She has delivered a lecture on “Yoga and its Benefits”.
Dr.K.Uthayarani, Head of the Department, Department of Physics, has felicitated the activities. Dr.LRaghunath, Professor of Chemistry and Prof.P.Balamurugan, Assistant Professor in Mechanical engineering has inculcated “Suriyanamaskar” to the audience.
Dr.M.RM.Krishnappa, Associate Professor in Physics and the faculty Advisor of the Yoga and Meditation Club of SREC has conducted “Meditation”.
Mr.M.S.Suresh Kumar and Dr.Uma Rani, Physical Directresses of SREC has inculcated several Asanas suggested by AUYSH in the common Yoga Protocol as a part of International Yoga Day celebrations to the participants and Prof.P.Balamurugan, Assistant Professors of Mechanical Engineering has conducted Yogasana Competition among the participants. 15 students participated in the event and the best three were awarded with certificate and cash prizes.

On behalf of Yoga Day celebrations, Online Essay Writing Competitions were conducted among our college students on the Topic, “Yoga: A Treasure for the Human Community”. Prof. A.Bharanitharan, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized the event. 18 students participated in the event and the best three were awarded with certificate and cash prizes. Prof.I.Indusoodan, Assistant Professor in English has acted as a Judge for the online essay writing competition.

Yoga and meditation club students demonstrated various 50 Asanas for the benefit of the audience. Some of Participants were also successful in their maiden attempt in doing certain Yogasanas.
About 120 students and 15 staff participated in the event. Dr.Uma Rani, Physical Directresses delivered the vote of thanks.
