The resounding success of MLSA SREC Hackheist '2k24 - the 3rd edition of the 3-day National Level Hackathon conducted by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in association with SREC Coin, MHRD-IIC & IETE on 22.03.2024, 27.03.2024, and 28.03.2024 - echoed through the halls of innovation, marking a milestone in the journey of aspiring tech enthusiasts. From its inception, the event garnered significant interest, drawing in a staggering 93 registrations from talented minds spanning various districts. After a meticulous pre-screening process on March 22nd, 31 teams emerged victorious, paving their way into the final pitch round held on March 27th and 28th.
The faculty coordinators for the event were Mrs. E. Shanthini, Dr. R. Karthikamani, and Mrs. M. Jaishree, who served as guiding lights for the entire HACKHEIST team, the second day of the hackathon commenced with a vibrant inaugural ceremony, setting the stage for a thrilling journey ahead. Dr. M. Jagadeeshwari, HoD/ECE, extended a warm welcome, igniting the flames of enthusiasm among participants. Mr. S. Praneet, Former community lead of MLSA, eloquently elucidated the manifold benefits of being part of MLSA, underscoring the platform's role in nurturing and honing the skills of budding technocrats. Mr. G. Bharathkumar, Community Lead of MLSA, skillfully recapped past events, painting a vivid picture of the community's rich history of innovation and collaboration.
As the hackathon unfolded, students unleashed their creativity, presenting ingenious prototypes to the discerning eyes of the internal jury members - esteemed Innovation Ambassadors from CoIN. Mrs. S. Birundha, Mr. G. Narendran, Mr. S. Krishnakumar, Mrs. E. Shanthini, Ms. M. Preethi, Dr. R. Karthikamani, and Mrs. M. Jaishree lent their expertise, guiding participants through the intricacies of ideation and implementation.
On March 28th, the anticipation peaked as external jury member Ms. M. Sri Dhviya, Senior Manager at Western Digital SanDisk, joined the fray. The judgment criteria were as rigorous as they were comprehensive, encompassing elements such as novelty, business idea viability, social impact, creativity, presentation prowess, and real-time implementation.
Ultimately, the winners emerged triumphant, with Coimbatore Institute of Technology clinching the coveted top spot, earning a well-deserved reward of Rs. 10,000. Sri Eshwar College of Engineering secured the runners-up position, walking away with a commendable prize of Rs. 5,000. Noteworthy recognition was also bestowed upon the team from Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, receiving the Best Innovation Award, and the team from KGISL Institute of Technology, honored with the Societal Impact Award.
Beyond the realm of competition, HACKHEIST 2K24 was a beacon of learning and growth, offering participants invaluable technical skills, fostering innovative business ideas, and nurturing the seeds of real-time implementation.
