Innovative Collaboration: SREC and SLB Join Forces SREC gets SLB's Elastomer Seal Test Facility

Industry-academia collaborations play a crucial role in promoting innovation and research in various fields, including engineering and technology. By collaborating with industries, educational institutions can leverage their resources, expertise, and technology to offer their students a more comprehensive and practical learning experience. In turn, industries benefit from the fresh perspectives and insights of young minds, helping them to stay at the forefront of technological advancements.

SREC's continued efforts in collaborating with industries have once again blossomed into fruition. Latest developments have seen SREC collaborating with SLB "Schlumberger Limited." A multinational company with billions pouring into revenue yearly recognized as the world's largest offshore drilling company in addition to being the world's largest offshore drilling contractor by revenue, SREC once again shows its credibility in being accepted by corporate giants. A State of the Art lab facility has been launched in order to explore and research in the field of Nano Technology, and SREC gets the SLB's Elastomer Seal Test Facility.

Collaborations such as the one between SREC and Schlumberger Limited can provide students with hands-on learning opportunities, exposure to the latest advancements in their field, and the potential for internships or employment. opportunities. Such collaborations can also foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, benefiting the industry, the institution, and the students.

To celebrate this landmark, an event was held in order to enlighten the students on the use of the SREC Elastomer Lab facility. Kuthuvilaku was lighted by the respected dignitaries to commence the event. Raising the curtains, our honourable Principal Dr. N.R.Alamelu graced the event by delivering the welcome address. She gave the students insights into the development and advancement of Nanotechnology and discussed the future potential of the lab. Our prominent Joint Managing Trustee, Shri. R. Sundar gave his insights on the collaboration and thanked the dignitaries and faculties for their support in making this lab facility possible. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome our distinguished chief guest Shri Veerabathraswamy Kandasamy CMI Center Manager, Schlumberger, to shower upon his expertise and enrich the students with his years of experience in the field. The company's objective and recent trends in the field were known. The importance of having a strong foundation in the core of one's subject, from which one must expand later, was reiterated. The lack of availability of qualified engineers in society and the tools one must need to tackle this situation were briefed upon. An overview of the company's history and recent standings in the world were thrown to light. Later, Shri Arulmani Ramasamy, Principal Welding Engineer, Schlumberger, gave a short and sharp speech on the importance of updating one's knowledge and also having patents. Sir stressed the importance of having patents that have the potential to be turned into ideas. We had the pleasure of inviting Shri. Kiruthika Thamburaj, Technology Manager, V&M, Schlumberger, provided similar visions with the lab and encouraged students to visit the lab to gain awareness.

A vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.Moorthi Pichumani, Professor and Head of the Department of Nano Science and Technology. The delegates visited the lab wherein the ribbon-cutting ceremony took place. Overall the event was a grand success as it educated the students on the importance of industry-collaborated labs within the campus.
