Philex 2024 - A Celebration of Philately and Nostalgia | SREC
There are countless methods of storytelling, from a well-directed movie and skillfully carved piece of wood to wisely written novels and gracefully tuned music. Each of these art forms conveys its own narrative. Another captivating way to showcase a story is through philately, adding to the rich tapestry of storytelling in literature and beyond.
On a remarkable, beautiful Tuesday morning, the Philatelic Club at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College hosted an event that would be etched into the memories of its members for years to come - Philex 2024. As a 25-year-old club, it held a special place in the hearts of its members, particularly the seniors who led the event with an abundance of love and compassion for their beloved club.
Growing up, we often overlook the significance of activities we engage in, but as time passes, we realize the profound impact they have on shaping our youth. The nostalgia of leaving behind cherished moments becomes more poignant with each passing day. This event was one of those moments that brought forth excitement and nostalgia.
The grandeur of Philex 2024 was accentuated by the presence of esteemed professors from the Department of Mathematics. Dr. Kasthuri stood by the students, offering support and motivation throughout the event.
The festivities commenced at the library block, where the collection competition unfolded outside the seminar hall. Participants enthusiastically showcased their diverse collections, ranging from stamps and coins to even chocolate wrappers. The rich history of our nation was vividly portrayed through these artifacts, offering glimpses into our ancestors' lives.
In a departure from traditional philately, the club went the extra mile by encouraging unconventional collections, sparking intrigue among the attendees. The library seminar hall was adorned with captivating stamp collections from around the globe, adding to the allure of the event.
Inside the seminar hall, special contests like 'Quill Quest' and 'Pixel Guru' provided students with a platform to showcase their talents. From poetry writing to sketching, participants immersed themselves in creative expression, delving into themes of patriotism and ancestral struggles.
As the event drew to a close, Mr. Praneet, the secretary of the club, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, reminiscing about the joyous moments shared within the club. His words encapsulated both the exuberance of club activities and the bittersweet realization of eventually parting ways.
We were reminded that even the most ordinary moments hold the potential to leave us with cherished memories. Philex 2024 was not just an event; it was a celebration of camaraderie, creativity, and the enduring spirit of philately.
