Soaring High in Aeronautical Excellence
The Aeronautical department of our college recently hosted the much-anticipated National-level symposium, Trefraketen, a dazzling showcase of technical prowess and a celebration of Aeronautical achievements. The symposium, held under the esteemed guidance of Dr. N.R. Alamelu, the Principal, and Dr. David Rathnaraj, the head of the Aeronautical department, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across the country.
The event started with the auspicious lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and a warm welcome by Dr. C.J. Thomas Renald, Associate Professor of the department. The chief guest and distinguished alumna, Ms. Nausheen Banu Chand, a Guinness World Record holder for trekking Mount Everest and a Flight Handling Officer at Air India, graced the occasion. Her inspiring words and insights into the aviation industry set the tone for an eventful day.
As a mark of patriotism, the symposium kicked off with Tamil Thai Vazhthu. Ms. Nausheen Banu Chand, as the Guest of Honour, shared her experiences and knowledge, leaving the students awe-inspired. A video presentation showcased the remarkable achievements of the Aeronautical department, leaving an indelible mark on the minds of the participants.
In a vote of thanks, the event coordinator expressed his heartfelt gratefulness to all the participants, guests, and faculty members for their support. The stage was then set for the technical and non-technical events that unfolded throughout the day.
Technical Marvels:
1. Water Rocket:
The "Water Rocket" event tested participants' engineering and launching skills. The rockets, powered by water and compressed air, soared into the sky, and the height achieved determined the winner. A cash prize of ₹3000 was awarded to the team that reached new heights, quite literally.
2. RC Plane:
The excitement continued with the "RC Plane" event, where teams showcased their control surfaces, motor power, and gliding abilities. The challenge included a thrilling 30-second flight, and participants dropped payloads at specified altitudes. The victorious team, hailing from Mangalore in Karnataka, secured a substantial cash prize of ₹15,000.
3. Drone Ca Corsa:
The highlight of the technical events, "Drone Ca Corsa," challenged students to navigate small UAVs. The duration of the flight determined the winner, who was awarded a generous cash prize of ₹20,000.
Non-Technical Extravaganza:
1. Treasure Hunt:
An enjoyable and engaging event, the "Treasure Hunt," had participants decoding hints to discover hidden treasures or reach specific locations. The winner was the team that unraveled all the clues first.
2. Aerial Dart:
In "Aerial Dart," players aimed to navigate their glider balloons to designated landing zones or achieve specific objectives, adding an element of fun to the symposium.
3. Take OK:
The event, "Take OK," challenged participants to submit a 1.5-minute video on a given topic. Creativity, video editing skills, and cinematography were the criteria for judging. Teams from various colleges participated, with Sri Krishna College of Engineering, NGP, and KCT among them. The winning team, showcasing exceptional skills, walked away with a cash prize ₹3000.
The symposium's success was a testament to the meticulous coordination of the students and the Aeronautical department. The entire event was adorned with creative decorations crafted by the students themselves, showcasing their dedication and hard work.
The positive reviews from participants across various colleges reflected the enjoyment and appreciation for the event, the college, and the Aeronautical department. Trefraketen not only provided a platform for technical brilliance but also fostered camaraderie and a sense of achievement among the participants, making it a truly grand success.
