Summer Internship of Bionanotechnology and Biomedical Marvels  

 

Imagine yourself at the crossroads of two groundbreaking scientific realms: Biomedical Engineering and Nanotechnology. The Summer Internship in Bionanotechnology, held from May 6th to May 18th, 2024, jointly by the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Nano Science and Technology, was an opportunity not just to learn but to pioneer the future of healthcare and material science. Hosted by the esteemed Centre for Continuing Education, this program promised an immersive journey into these cutting-edge fields, ensuring participants stayed ahead in the ever-evolving landscape of science and technology.  

  

Week 1: Inside the Summer Internship of Bionanotechnology and Biomedical Marvels 

The journey began with a thrilling exploration of Nano Science and Technology. Guided by seasoned experts, participants delved into the nuances of wet chemical synthesis, mastering the manipulation of nanoparticle size and surface functionality. Through hands-on lab sessions, they synthesized and analyzed nanomaterials, setting the stage for an intellectually invigorating experience. The inaugural ceremony, led by the esteemed Dr. Moorthi Pichumani, HoD/Nano, ignited anticipation for the transformative journey ahead.  

   



 


 



 

 

 

 

Week 2: Immersion in Biomedical Engineering:  

 

Transitioning into the dynamic realm of Biomedical Engineering, participants embarked on an immersive exploration of cutting-edge healthcare technologies. From delving into biomechanics to unraveling the secrets of bioinformatics, they unearthed the life-saving magic hidden within nanomaterials. The inaugural ceremony, graced by Dr. B. Sharmila, HoD/BME, set the tone for an intellectually stimulating experience. Led by the industry experts and faculty members of SREC, hands-on training sessions delved into drug design, molecular docking, nanofiber membrane development, biomechanics, healthcare instrumentation, and much more. Each session meticulously illuminated the intricate intersections of nanotechnology and healthcare, equipping participants with a comprehensive understanding of these revolutionary advancements.  

  

 



 



 



 

 

As the internship concluded, participants emerged not just as learners but as pioneers in Bionanotechnology. Empowered by practical skills and the latest insights, they stand ready to mold the future of healthcare. The journey was about more than just acquiring knowledge; it was about igniting the spark of innovation within each participant.

The valedictory session was led by Dr. N. Sathish Kumar, Head of Centre for Continuing Education, SREC, who shared his valuable insights along with Dr. Moorthi Pichumani, HoD/Nano and Dr. B. Sharmila, HoD/BME. Certificates of completion were awarded, and Active Participant Awards were given to those who demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm and interaction throughout the journey. 

 



This Summer Internship in Bionanotechnology was a transformative experience that left an indelible mark on all who participated. Through immersive learning experiences, expert mentorship, and cross-disciplinary exploration, participants acquired invaluable insights into the fusion of Biomedical Engineering and Nanotechnology.
