Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College Partners with L&T Edutech to Launch Industry-Integrated Specialization in VLSI Design and Technology .
In a major step toward bridging the gap between engineering education and core electronics industry requirements, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC), in association with L&T Edutech, officially inaugurated its flagship Industry Integrated Specialization on VLSI Design and Technology.
The grand inaugural event, held at the IT Seminar Hall, was presided over by Dr. A. Soundarrajan, Principal of SREC. The ceremony was graced by prominent academic leaders of the institution, including Dr. S. Jayanthy, Dean Academics, and Dr. M. Jagadeeswari, Professor and Head of the ECE Department, both of whom highlighted the critical importance of semiconductor technology in the modern global economy. The specialization program is being coordinated by Mr. M. Selvaganesh, Assistant Professor (Senior Grade), serving as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for this industry initiative.
As a remarkable milestone coinciding with the launch, a select batch of 38 meritorious ECE students successfully completed two intensive, rigorous industry-mapped courses:
VLSI Design and Verilog Programming
Product Architecture Models and Firmware
These foundational and advanced courses were meticulously handled by renowned domain specialists, ensuring students received hands-on, practical insights into real-world engineering challenges. The sessions were delivered by Ms. A.Chitra, Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Semiconductor at L&T Edutech, and Mr. Deepak Kumar Das from L&T Semiconductor Technologies Ltd.
Speaking on the achievement, the academic leadership emphasized that training in hardware description languages, integrated circuit architecture, and firmware deployment ensures SREC graduates are uniquely positioned for high-demand careers in the fast-growing semiconductor design ecosystem.
