AICTE - Smart India Hackathon 2018 - SREC- Winner of second prize at Nodal Centre College of Engineering and received Rs. 75000 and certificate. The team that won the award comprised of ShriHarini.G, Rubesh.C.V, Sanjay Bharathi.S, Suryadharshini.S, VimalAdit. V, Vishal.N – 3rd Year CSE Students mentored by Mr. Sunil Desai, Mr.Biji.P.K, Mr.AshokPanwalkar along with Institute Mentor Mr.A.Bharanidharan, Assistant Professor.

Our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri NarendraModi, envisages a Digital India to bridge the digital divide in our country and further promote digital literacy in order to make development a comprehensive mass movement and put governance within everyone’s reach in India. In order to work towards our PM’s vision, MHRD, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Inter Institutional Inclusive Innovation Center (i4C), and Persistent Systems organized Smart India Hackathon 2018, a unique initiative to identify new and disruptive digital technology innovations for solving the challenges faced by our country.
Smart India Hackathon 2018 is a non-stop digital product development competition, where problems are posed to technology students for innovative solutions. It Harnesses creativity & expertise of students, Sparks institute-level hackathons, Builds funnel for ‘Startup India’ campaign, Crowdsources solutions for improving governance and quality of life, Provides opportunity to citizens to provide innovative solutions to India’s daunting problems.
This year Hardware Edition of Hackathon(SIHH - 2018) had been initiated with teams working for 5 straight days and build their hardware solutions. This competition is limited to only 5 nodal centers with 20-25 teams each.

A team named “Scrutineers” of 6 students from III year CSE of Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore proposed an Innovative solution to the Coastal Guard officials for monitoring the Tamil Nadu fishermen and alert them if they sail inside the other country’s border. They designed and developed an IoT based architecture using RFID Communication.
